Neurosurgery
In the neurosurgery OR, the operating table, with the navigation system for instrument management, surgical lights and one monitor arm above, is located in the center point of the room. Anesthesia and infusion stands are positioned at the patient’s head end. The foot end is outfitted with a surgical stand that is specially equipped for the discipline. A ceiling microscope is integrated in the room on the side of the operating table, available for specialized procedures.
The area of the operating room for neurosurgical procedures should be about 60 m² to provide sufficient space for the ceiling microscope, navigation system and the large surgical team. Because of the high requirement for extremely bacteria-free and low turbulence air in the operating area, the operating room must be equipped with an LAF outlet.
